bmibaby is top of the class, both on the ground and in the air

An industry-wide survey has shown low cost airline, bmibaby, has beaten every other European airline in its class for check in procedures.

And its cabin crews are among the best in the business for in flight sales, thanks to a high-flying performance by two staff in a prestigious international competition.

The latest Airport Service Quality results show East Midlands-based bmibaby has improved in all three check-in measures graded by the industry and has beaten every other EU airline in its benchmark group to become best in class for two of them.

bmibaby has been declared ‘best in class’ for waiting times in check-in queues as well as for its courtesy and helpfulness of check-in staff.  It has also improved the efficiency of its check-in staff.

Lee Gainsbury, ground and cabin services director, bmibaby, said:
“The results, which cover the last three months, are a great tribute to the airline and the team but also the best possible news for our customers.

“We pride ourselves in the way we look after our customers, not just offering value for money but a top quality service.  To be told by the industry we are the best in the business at this as well shows we are getting it right.”

Meanwhile bmibaby cabin crew have won silver in a major international competition for in-flight-sales.

The airline entered two of its best cabin crew sellers, East Midlands-based Jamie Steele and Birmingham-based Sandra Ellis in the industry’s keenly contested ISPY awards for the ‘In-flight Salesperson of the Year Award’.

They were up against crews from 45 international airlines and brought home one of the most highly claimed awards.  Both Jamie and Sandra underwent five full days of intense training on all aspects of in-flight retail and customer service, after which Sandra won the prestigious ‘In-flight Sales Person of the Year 2011 silver award’.

Lee Gainsbury added:
“We offer our huge congratulations to both Jamie and Sandra. The made us all very proud and are real ambassadors for bmibaby.

“We were also very proud to be chosen in the final four airlines for the airline of the year award which was judged on all that we have achieved for cabin crew sales and service over the last 18 months.”
