Follow Kalverstraat from Dam Square south all the way to the Flower Market – this pedestrian-only street is jam-packed with people on weekends and is the best place to do some shopping.

Albert Cuyp Market
This outdoor market is one of the most famous in all of the Netherlands. This is the place to purchase new socks, fresh fruits and vegetables, a bicycle or any other item you might need... or want! Alongside the market, in the vibrant De Pijp neighborhood, you’ll find some excellent restaurants and cafés. For a real treat, be sure to stop into Bazaar, a restaurant housed in an old Moroccan church with very high ceilings.

By bus:There is a regular bus service from Schiphol to Amsterdam city. Buses pick up from the stop in front of Schiphol Plaza Tel: 0031 (0)9002021163
By taxi: Schiphol travel taxis are available from outside the Schiphol plaza. Journey time to Amsterdam is 15 minutes. Taxis can be booked in advance through the airport website www.schiphol.com.
By train:There is a direct service from Schiphol airport to Amsterdam Central Station. Trains run every 10-15 minutes with a journey time of 20 minutes. The railway station is in the terminal central hall underneath Schiphol Plaza.
1st class single fare one way from 6.60 Euros and 11.40 Euros return.
2nd class single fare one way from 3.90 Euros and 6.70 Euros return.
