Search for flights & fares

How do I search for flights and fares?

The flight and fare search is at the top of each page in the booking engine. To start a search, select your preferred airports and dates and click on the 'search' button. A new page will show a list of available flights and fares. Please note: availability changes continually therefore fares cannot be guaranteed at a later time.

Flights & fares by email

Can I get flights and fares via email?

Unfortunately, we cannot answer email requests for flights and fares. If you want to speak to an agent about availability then please phone our call centre on 0905 8282828 (Calls cost 65p per minute from a BT Landline. Calls from mobiles and other networks will be considerably more). However, if you want to keep up to date with all of the latest offers from bmibaby then sign up to receive regular e-mails online.

Online booking process

How does the online booking process work?

bmibaby uses a simple and secure booking process that involves just five stages (choose, ready to book, passengers, purchase & booked). Your progress through each stage is shown at the top of the page along with instructions. The process is almost identical to that used by an agent in our call centre, except that you are in control and can search as many times as you like! It is also important to remember that you are not committed to anything until you enter your credit card details and click on the final 'purchase' button on the payment screen.

Booking Security

Is my booking secure?

Yes! We offer 128-bit encryption during our booking process. Encryption is a way of scrambling sensitive data or information so that it can be securely transmitted across the Internet. 128-bit SSL is one of the most secure levels of encryption available. You will know when you have entered the secure area of our site when you see a padlock icon in the bottom right hand corner of your browser window.

Variance in price

Why does the price sometimes vary depending on the number of passengers?

Each fare in an airline reservation system has a number of seats allocated to it. If there is just one seat in the lowest fare and you enter two passengers then it will automatically quote both passengers at the next fare level (passengers in the same booking must travel on the same fare). However, the lower fare would be quoted if you were travelling alone because it could book the final seat.

Delay after clicking purchase

I clicked on the 'purchase' button on the payment page but nothing happened, why?

The final payment page takes the longest to process and there is often a delay before the confirmation page appears and booking reference is shown. Normally this is less than 30 seconds but during busy periods it can take a couple of minutes. If you have waited longer than this and there was still no response it is advisable to phone the call centre on 0905 8282828 (Calls cost 65p per minute from a BT Landline. Calls from mobiles and other networks will be considerably more) and check if the booking was completed. If the booking didn't complete then you can try again online or make the booking on the phone

Credit card declines

Why was my credit card declined?

In most cases this is caused by the wrong number or expiry date being entered. Please make sure that you check all of your details carefully. bmibaby uses a secure authorisation process to check credit cards. The process is the same as that used by our call centre on 0905 8282828 (Calls cost 65p per minute from a BT Landline. Calls from mobiles and other networks will be considerably more) so, if your card was declined online it will also be declined via the call centre. If this is the case we recommend contacting your card issuer or using another card.

Confirmation booking made

How do I know if my booking was successful?

If you were shown a confirmation page detailing a booking reference then everything was successful. You should also be sent a confirmation email with your itinerary details. If this doesn't arrive don't worry, all you need to travel is the booking reference from your confirmation page and photographic proof of your identity. Confirmations can also be made through the call centre on 0905 8282828 (Calls cost 65p per minute from a BT Landline. Calls from mobiles and other networks will be considerably more). Please note that bmibaby is a ticketless airline. You will not receive any form of confirmation in the post unless requested.

Lost booking references

I've lost my email and/or booking reference. What do I do now?

You do not need the email itself to travel only the booking reference number. This was on the confirmation page at the end of your booking. Booking references can also be confirmed through the bmibaby call centre on 0905 8282828 (Calls cost 65p per minute from a BT Landline. Calls from mobiles and other networks will be considerably more). All you need to travel is the booking reference and photographic proof of your identity.

Debit & credit card charges

Do I get charged for using a debit/credit card?

All bookings and changes made using a credit card are subject to a processing fee of £5.00 per passenger per one way flight. Bookings made using a debit card are subject to a processing fee of £3.50 per passenger per one way flight. There is no charge for payments made using a Visa Electron card.

Please note a minimum processing fee of £4.00 for debit card bookings and £6.50 for credit card bookings applies.

Paying for infants to travel

Do I pay for infants to travel?

Infants under the age of 2 years (on the date of departure) may fly for an administration fee (£25) per one way flight, providing they sit on the lap of a paying adult who has responsibility for that infant. The baggage allowance for this responsible adult will increase to 23kg. For children over 2 years, the price of flights and the baggage allowance is the same as for adults.

Adding infant after booking

I have already booked for travel but did not add an infant at the time of booking. Can I add one now?

It is possible to add the infant at a later stage of the booking. All infants added to a reservation will be charged (£25) fee per one way flight.

Connecting flights

Can I book a connecting flight?

bmibaby does not operate a connecting flights service with any airline (including bmi). Therefore, you will need to check-in separately and collect your luggage for each portion of your journey. bmibaby cannot take responsibility for you making any onward connections either on separate bmibaby flights or flights with other airlines. bmibaby will therefore not pay compensation for missed flights.

Paying for flights

How can I pay for my flights?

All bookings and changes can be made using the following cards- Visa credit card, Mastercard, bmibaby Mastercard, Diners Club, American Express, *Switch/Maestro, *Solo, Visa Debit card or Visa Electron. All bookings and changes made using a credit card are subject to a processing fee of £5.00 per passenger per one way flight. Bookings made using a debit card are subject to a processing fee of £3.50 per passenger per one way flight.

A minimum processing fee of £4.00 for debit card bookings and £6.50 for credit card bookings applies.

There is no charge for payments made using a Visa Electron card.

*Only accepted for UK departures.

Receiving tickets

When will I receive my tickets?

bmibaby is a ticketless airline, therefore all you need to travel is your confirmation booking reference number which is given to you automatically once you complete your payment and your photographic identification. A travel confirmation will also be emailed to you with your booking reference number. If you book using our call centre and do not have an email address, we will give you your reference number over the phone and a travel confirmation will be posted to your postal address.

Receipt for flight booking

Where can I obtain a receipt for my flight booking?

If you require a receipt for your booking, this can be obtained through ‘manage your bookings’ online at bmibaby.com. You are required to enter your booking details in order to retrieve your booking. You are then able to print your receipt. You can also access your receipt from your confirmation email.

bmi flights on bmibaby site

Can I book bmi flights on the bmibaby website?

Yes. The drop down destination menu on the booking engine contains bmi and bmibaby routes. If you select a route operated by bmi, you will be redirected to bmi website at flybmi.com. Please note that bmi flights cannot be booked through the bmibaby call centre and you should contact the bmi reservations team on 0844 8484888

Transfer from bmibaby to bmi

Can I transfer my flights between bmibaby and bmi?

No. bmibaby and bmi are set up as different entities and run as independent airlines containing separate terms and conditions of carriage. Therefore, if you have a flight with bmibaby, you are unable to change these to flights operated by bmi.
