Seat allocation

Please read the following terms and conditions relating to online seat selection.

  • Standard seats can be reserved online from just £5.50 (€6.50) per flight per passenger. Standard seats can also be reserved via the reservations centre from £11 (€13) per flight per passenger.
  • Emergency exit seats offering extra leg room can be reserved online from £8.50 (€11) per flight per passenger.

All FlyPlus and FlyExtra passengers are entitled to reserve a seat at the time of booking. Subject to availability.

CAA regulations state that emergency exit seats may only be occupied by able bodied passengers aged 16+.  Passengers who require a seatbelt extension are not permitted to sit in emergency exit seats.  Emergency exit seats can also be reserved via the reservations centre for £15.00 (€24) per flight per passenger.

  • The airline will endeavour to assign passengers their requested seat, however, in some circumstances it may not be possible to guarantee seat assignments.
  • bmibaby reserves the right to re allocate any passenger that does not adhere to the CAA regulations regarding emergency exit seats. In this event no refund will be permitted.
  • passengers travelling with infants may be moved to alternative seats for safety reasons, which will be done at the time of check-in, e.g. only one infant is allowed per row
  • seats are automatically assigned free of charge for wheelchair passengers. Assistance should be pre booked through the bmibaby call centre on 0845 8101100
  • for operational reasons the airline reserves the right to change the aircraft type that it operates and in such circumstances the airline will make every effort to place passengers in the same or similar seats, however this may not be possible.
  • the online seat selection function is not a check in system; passengers are still required to arrive at check-in 2 hours prior to departure. Check-in on international flights to and from and over mainland europe will close promptly 40 minutes before the scheduled departure time. For flights within the UK, Republic of Ireland and Jersey check-in will continue to close promptly 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time, any passengers not completing the check in process within this time will not be accepted for travel
  • seats reserved via the online seat selection system will be released back into the seat assignment system 60 minutes prior to departure if the passenger named has not yet checked in. In circumstances such as this no refund will be given.
  • seats are assigned separately for outbound and return flights, please ensure that when using the system that seats are assigned for each leg of your journey
  • If seats A and C or D and F are assigned the airline reserves the right to assign seats B and E on all rows
  • the airline reserves the right to block off selected seats. These seats are assigned at check-in. Over 60 per cent of seats are available to pre-book online
  • seats will be assigned at check-in free of charge for passengers who have not pre-assigned seats but we cannot ensure that your preferred arrangements are met
  • if passengers make changes to flight details e.g. name changes, dates and flight times, bmibaby will endeavour to assign the same seats, however, this is not guaranteed. In circumstances such as this no refunds are permitted for pre-assigned seats
  • in the event of any flight disruption, delays or cancellations, the airline will make every effort to place passengers in the same or similar seats, however this may not be possible.
  • if a scheduled change is made to a flight, bmibaby will endeavour to allocate passengers the same seat. Should your flight be subject to a scheduled change you are advised to view the revised itinerary

PLEASE NOTE: Seats 7A and 7F do not have windows. On the 737-500 aircraft rows 8-16 and, on the 737- 300 aircraft rows 9-17 are situated over the wing.
